=====Confidence in Synteleos up since new ownership=====

September 12, 2001  August was the best sales month ever for Synteleos Transaction Management Network. That statement is anything but trivial if you consider that the service's money was dwindling just a few months ago.

In 1999, Synteleos, Inc, pioneered a successful online transaction service. Though the service grew and was well-known in the industry, Synteleos began to run out of money earlier this year and was forced to make significant budget cuts. Unable to raise additionalfunding, it sold the service to GURU Networks, Inc. (GURUnet) in June.

New transactions entered each day for the service had actually declined by 52 percent during the first six months of this year, according to GURUnet. Since the acquisition, the numbers of users and of new transactions for Synteleos TMN have shown dramatic growth.

"It took about 45 days after the handover before confidence was restored, and we began to see the turnaround," said Ike Broaddus, GURUnet's CEO. "But since then, new transactions have increased over 30 percent. We expect to double the number of users and triple the number of daily transactions by year end."

The first step GURUnet took, according to Broaddus, was to set up a 24-hour help desk enabling current users to get full support and assistance. The company also formed a user advisory board to provide feedback and suggestions for the product, and GURUnet's technology team increased the capacity of the hardware and software that runs the service.
